Anti-Thy1.2 is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the Thy1.2 (CD90.2) alloantigen, a cell-surface glycoprotein expressed on thymocytes, mature T cells, and innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in specific mouse strains such as C57BL/6 and BALB/c. It is primarily utilized as a research tool in preclinical murine models to induce the depletion of T cells and ILCs in vivo, allowing for the study of immune responses, disease pathogenesis, and transplant tolerance. The antibody is also used for the immunopurification of specific cell populations, such as retinal ganglion cells, and has been explored as a targeting ligand in experimental drug delivery systems. It is chemically distinct from anti-Thy1.1 antibodies, which target the alternative Thy1.1 allele found in other mouse strains like AKR.
