Overview

Anti-TNF neutralizing antibodies are a class of biologic agents designed to bind to and inhibit the activity of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine. TNF-α plays a central role in the pathogenesis of various chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases by inducing the expression of other cytokines, adhesion molecules, and inflammatory mediators. By neutralizing TNF-α, these antibodies reduce systemic inflammation and tissue damage. Clinically, this class includes well-known agents such as adalimumab, infliximab, and golimumab, which are used to treat conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and plaque psoriasis. In preclinical research, anti-TNF antibodies are frequently employed to study the cytokine's contribution to vascular dysfunction, oxidative stress, and metabolic disorders, such as endothelial dysfunction in diabetic models.
