Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-TSLP antibody is a class of monoclonal antibodies or antibody fragments designed to target and neutralize thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), an epithelial cell-derived alarmin cytokine. TSLP plays a critical upstream role in initiating and perpetuating type 2 (T2) and non-T2 inflammatory cascades in response to environmental insults at barrier surfaces such as the lungs, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. By binding to TSLP, these antibodies block its interaction with the heterodimeric TSLP receptor complex (composed of TSLPR and IL-7Rα), thereby preventing downstream signaling pathways (such as JAK/STAT5 activation) and inhibiting the activation of dendritic cells, mast cells, group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s), and T helper 2 (Th2) cells. This therapeutic class is primarily developed for the treatment of severe uncontrolled asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), atopic dermatitis, and other allergic or inflammatory conditions.
