Overview

Anti-VEGF SR is a preclinical-stage, sustained-release biologic therapy being developed by Glaukos for the treatment of retinal vascular diseases, including wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD), retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and diabetic macular edema (DME). The therapeutic program utilizes a hydrogel-based, bio-erodible implant designed for intravitreal administration. The mechanism of action involves the continuous release of a biologic agent that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling, thereby reducing pathological retinal and choroidal angiogenesis and vascular leakage. This sustained-delivery platform is intended to provide long-term therapeutic efficacy while reducing the treatment burden associated with frequent intravitreal injections of conventional anti-VEGF agents.
