The anti-whitlow monoclonal antibody is a novel biologic tool developed to target the Whitlow linker peptide, a 15-amino acid sequence (typically (Gly4Ser)3) frequently incorporated into the single-chain variable fragments (scFvs) of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) constructs. Developed by a collaborative team at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington, these antibodies serve as a universal detection reagent for CAR T-cells, independent of their specific antigen targets (such as CD19, BCMA, or CD33).
