Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anticorisin monoclonal antibody is a neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed by researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Mie University. It targets corisin, a microbiota-derived proapoptotic peptide produced by Staphylococcus species (such as Staphylococcus nepalensis and Staphylococcus haemolyticus). Corisin is implicated in the pathogenesis of tissue fibrosis and acute lung injury by promoting cellular senescence, apoptosis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In preclinical models, treatment with the anticorisin monoclonal antibody has been shown to ameliorate acute lung injury, prevent acute exacerbation of pulmonary fibrosis, and reduce the severity of diabetic kidney fibrosis (nephropathy).
