Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of an antidepressant (such as an SSRI, SNRI, or NDRI) and cariprazine. Cariprazine is an atypical antipsychotic that acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and D3 receptors (with higher affinity for D3), a partial agonist at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, and an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A/5-HT2B/5-HT2C, histamine H1, and alpha-1 adrenergic receptors. The combination is used as adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who have not responded adequately to antidepressant monotherapy. The mechanism involves modulation of dopamine and serotonin neurotransmission to improve mood symptoms when standard antidepressants alone are insufficient[4][6][7][8].
