Overview

Antiflu-Des is an over-the-counter (OTC) combination medication developed and manufactured by the Mexican pharmaceutical company Chinoin. It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and influenza, targeting symptoms such as fever, nasal congestion, sneezing, and body aches. The formulation typically consists of three active ingredients: acetaminophen (paracetamol), which provides analgesic and antipyretic effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system; chlorphenamine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine that reduces allergic-like respiratory symptoms by antagonizing H1 receptors; and amantadine hydrochloride, an antiviral agent that inhibits the M2 ion channel of the influenza A virus to prevent viral uncoating and replication. It is widely available in Mexico and other Latin American markets, primarily in capsule form for adults.
