Overview

Antifungal Ointment No. I is a topical combination drug designed to treat superficial fungal infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and tinea corporis. Its multi-component formulation includes sulfur, which acts as a keratolytic and antifungal agent by disrupting fungal cell components. Zinc oxide provides astringent, protective, and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. For symptomatic relief, it contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride and dibucaine hydrochloride, both local anesthetics that alleviate itching and pain. Additionally, l-menthol offers a cooling sensation and mild anesthetic properties, while isopropylmethylphenol serves as an antiseptic to prevent secondary bacterial infections by disrupting microbial cell membranes. This combination aims to provide comprehensive treatment by targeting both the fungal pathogen and the associated discomfort.
