Overview

antimir-134 is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit microRNA-134 (miR-134), a non-coding RNA implicated in the pathophysiology of epilepsy, particularly drug-resistant epilepsy. By specifically binding and silencing miR-134, antimir-134 reduces neuronal hyperexcitability, suppresses evoked and spontaneous seizures, and demonstrates neuroprotective effects by reducing seizure-induced neuronal damage and astrogliosis in preclinical animal models and human brain tissue ex vivo[1][3][5][6]. The therapy is being developed primarily as a disease-modifying agent for epilepsy, and recent advances suggest durable effects following a single dose, with potential application for other central nervous system disorders.
