Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Antineoplaston A5 is an investigational antineoplastic agent developed by the Burzynski Clinic, consisting of a mixture of peptides and amino acid derivatives. Originally derived from human urine and subsequently synthesized, it is part of a larger group of compounds termed "antineoplastons" by Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski. The agent is administered via intravenous injection and is hypothesized to function as a "biochemical corrector" that normalizes the growth of cancer cells by modulating gene expression and signal transduction. Clinical development has primarily focused on Phase 1 studies for various types of cancer, although the treatment remains highly controversial and lacks FDA approval for commercial use.
