Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of antioxidant and pregabalin is used for pain management in chronic pancreatitis. Pregabalin is a small molecule that acts as a calcium channel modulator, reducing neuropathic pain by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. Antioxidants (such as methionine, selenium, β-carotene, ascorbic acid, and α-tocopherol) are thought to reduce oxidative stress in pancreatic tissue. Clinical trials have shown that this combination significantly reduces pain intensity, decreases the need for non-opioid analgesics, lowers hospital admissions related to pain episodes, and improves patient satisfaction compared to placebo[1][2][4].
