Antisense Bcl-xL oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) is an experimental, research-stage antisense oligonucleotide therapeutic designed to target and suppress the expression of Bcl-xL (BCL2L1), an anti-apoptotic protein of the Bcl-2 family. By binding to Bcl-xL mRNA, this single-stranded DNA molecule induces sequence-specific downregulation of Bcl-xL protein expression, thereby restoring apoptotic sensitivity in cancer cells. It has been widely investigated in preclinical models of various malignancies, including prostate cancer, breast carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, lung carcinoma, melanoma, and leukemia, often in combination with chemotherapeutic agents such as paclitaxel, doxorubicin, and cisplatin to overcome drug resistance.
