Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Antisettico Astringente Sedativo** is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution developed and marketed by Bruschettini for the treatment of simple conjunctivitis and other minor ocular inflammations and infections. The formulation combines four active ingredients to provide comprehensive relief: **sulfacetamide sodium**, a sulfonamide antibacterial that inhibits bacterial dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS) to prevent folic acid synthesis; **naphazoline hydrochloride**, a sympathomimetic vasoconstrictor that stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors to reduce conjunctival congestion, redness, and itching; **lidocaine hydrochloride**, a local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels to alleviate pain and discomfort; and **zinc phenolsulfonate** (zinc sulfophenate), which acts as a mild antiseptic and astringent. Together, these components address the infectious, inflammatory, congestive, and painful aspects of simple conjunctivitis.
