Antithrombin gamma is a recombinant form of human antithrombin developed as an alternative to plasma-derived antithrombin for the treatment and prevention of coagulation disorders such as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and antithrombin III deficiency. It acts primarily by inhibiting thrombin and other serine proteases in the coagulation cascade, including factors IXa, Xa, XIa, and XIIa. This inhibition prevents excessive clot formation. Antithrombin gamma is produced using genetic recombination technology to provide a virus-free alternative to plasma-derived products. The drug has been investigated in clinical trials for DIC and early onset severe preeclampsia[2][3][4][8].
