A combination immunosuppressive therapy consisting of antithymocyte globulin (ATG) and basiliximab. ATG is a polyclonal antibody preparation that depletes T cells, while basiliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (CD25) on activated T lymphocytes. This combination is used primarily for induction therapy in organ transplantation, particularly kidney transplantation, to prevent acute rejection. Lower doses of ATG combined with basiliximab have shown effective prevention of rejection with fewer adverse effects compared to standard-dose ATG alone.
