Antivet

Antivet is a microabrasion kit used for the treatment of dental fluorosis, specifically designed to remove brownish stains on tooth enamel caused by excessive fluoride intake. The kit, manufactured by Dental Continental, contains a 21% acid solution—identified in some clinical contexts as hydrochloric acid and in others as hydrofluoric acid—that acts as a chemical microabrasive to separate fluoride ions from fluorotic areas of the enamel. The treatment is a topical, one-visit procedure that involves applying the cleaning solution to the affected teeth with a brush or swab, followed by the application of a neutralizing solution for two minutes to halt the chemical action. It is also recommended as a pre-orthodontic treatment to improve bracket adhesion on teeth affected by fluorosis. Cairo University has conducted Phase 4 clinical trials evaluating Antivet's performance in managing mild to moderate fluorosis.
