Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anweiyang is a Chinese patent medicine developed and manufactured by Xinjiang Quanan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., primarily indicated for the treatment of functional dyspepsia, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers. The medication is formulated as a capsule containing a concentrated extract of *Glycyrrhiza glabra* (licorice). Its mechanism of action centers on gastric mucosal protection; it enhances the mucosal barrier by inhibiting the breakdown of prostaglandins and stimulating the secretion of protective gastric mucus. Specifically, it has been shown to increase levels of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) by inhibiting the enzyme 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase. Additionally, Anweiyang promotes the regeneration of gastric epithelial cells and possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which collectively help to relieve symptoms such as epigastric pain, bloating, and acid regurgitation while supporting the healing of the gastrointestinal lining.
