Designed as a follow-on to the company's lead candidate ANX007, ANX-211 is an intravitreal biologic engineered for enhanced potency and extended durability. Its mechanism of action involves the specific inhibition of C1q, the initiating protein of the classical complement pathway, to prevent the neuroinflammation and synapse loss that characterize GA progression. By blocking the classical pathway at its start, ANX-211 aims to preserve retinal function while potentially offering a reduced dosing burden through a sustained-release formulation, targeting dosing intervals as long as six months.
