ANX009 is a subcutaneously administered antigen-binding fragment (Fab) of a humanized antibody that specifically inhibits Complement C1q subcomponent (C1q), the initiating molecule of the classical complement pathway. By blocking C1q substrate interactions, ANX009 fully inhibits activation of all downstream components in the classical complement cascade while leaving the lectin and alternative pathways intact. This mechanism disrupts autoantibody-mediated complement activation, which is implicated in various blood-based and vascular autoimmune diseases. ANX009 is being developed by Annexon for indications such as lupus nephritis and other antibody-mediated autoimmune disorders[1][2][4][6][8].
