ANXA7 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Annexin A7 (ANXA7), a member of the annexin family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins. In the context of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), ANXA7 isoforms play distinct roles in the endosomal trafficking of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The ANXA7-I1 isoform is specifically involved in directing EGFR toward lysosomal degradation. By utilizing ANXA7 siRNA to knock down total ANXA7 expression, researchers have demonstrated that the loss of this protein impairs EGFR sorting to lysosomes and promotes receptor recycling, leading to sustained oncogenic signaling. This agent is primarily used as a research tool in preclinical studies to investigate the molecular mechanisms of receptor tyrosine kinase regulation and alternative splicing in cancer.
