ANXV-800CW

ANXV-800CW (annexin V-IRDye 800CW) is an investigational fluorescent imaging agent and potential therapeutic biologic being developed by Annexin Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). It consists of recombinant human Annexin A5 protein conjugated to the near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent dye IRDye 800CW. The drug targets phosphatidylserine (PS), a phospholipid that is abnormally exposed on the outer membrane of erythrocytes and endothelial cells in conditions like retinal vein occlusion (RVO). By binding to PS, Annexin A5 is intended to reduce pathological cell adhesion and aggregation that contribute to vascular obstruction. Simultaneously, the IRDye 800CW component allows for the visualization of the drug's distribution and the extent of vascular damage in the retina using NIR fluorescence molecular imaging. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and imaging feasibility in patients with RVO.
