Overview

AP-205 is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered natural killer (NK) cell therapy. It is designed to target tumors expressing membrane Heat Shock Protein 70 (mHsp70), a cancer-specific biomarker that is highly expressed on the surface of aggressive and resistant cancer cells but is absent on normal, healthy cells. Developed by Alphageneron Pharmaceuticals, AP-205 utilizes donor-derived NK cells that are genetically modified to recognize and eliminate mHsp70-positive tumor cells. This approach aims to provide a standardized, readily available cell therapy product that does not require patient-specific cell manufacturing, potentially offering a faster and more accessible treatment option for patients with aggressive malignancies.
