AP-26

AP-26 is a recombinant fusion protein being developed by Protheragen for the treatment of solid tumors. It is designed to simultaneously target Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) and the Interleukin-2 (IL-2) receptor. By acting as a PD-1 antagonist, AP-26 blocks the inhibitory signals that tumors use to evade the immune system. Concurrently, as an IL-2 receptor agonist, it stimulates the activation and expansion of effector T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. This dual-action approach is intended to overcome the limitations of monotherapies by combining immune checkpoint blockade with direct immune stimulation within the tumor microenvironment. The drug is currently in Phase I clinical development.
