AP-303 is an investigational oral small molecule drug developed by Shanghai Alebund Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of renal diseases, specifically autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD)/diabetic nephropathy. The drug acts as a pan-inhibitor of sodium-dependent phosphate transporters, targeting renal hemodynamics to attenuate glomerular hyperfiltration. Preclinical studies have shown that AP-303 improves renal survival in ADPKD mouse models. It has completed first-in-human Phase 1 studies in healthy volunteers and is advancing toward Phase 2 trials for ADPKD. The US FDA granted orphan drug designation to AP-303 for the treatment of ADPKD[1][2][3][4][5][7].
