Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AP-308 is a recombinant biologic, specifically an Fc fusion protein, developed as an IgA protease inhibitor. It is designed to cleave and clear IgA deposits, primarily for the treatment of IgA nephropathy. The drug is based on an IgA protease (AK183) derived from the commensal bacterium Clostridium ramosum, which is fused to the Fc segment of human IgG1 to extend its half-life in blood. It aims to provide a targeted enzymatic strategy to remove IgA and associated complement C3 deposits in the glomerulus, addressing the underlying pathology of IgA nephropathy. It is currently in preclinical development.
