Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AP-D8 is an antagonistic peptide targeting decoy receptor 2 (DcR2). Developed by researchers at the Army Medical University in Chongqing, China, AP-D8 was screened from a phage display library as a potent antagonist of DcR2. In preclinical models of acute kidney injury (AKI), AP-D8 has been shown to inhibit renal interstitial fibrosis and tubular senescence, thereby promoting cell proliferation and regeneration. Mechanistically, DcR2 drives AKI progression and tubular senescence by suppressing Hmgcs2-mediated beta-hydroxybutyrate (β-OHB) production; by blocking DcR2, AP-D8 restores Hmgcs2 expression and β-OHB levels, alleviating kidney injury.
