Overview

AP-Skin-01 is a novel, "off-the-shelf" allogeneic cell therapy being developed by APstem Therapeutics for the treatment of diabetic ulcers, specifically diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). The product is derived from adult pluripotent stem cells (APSCs) using the company's proprietary APSC™ and giaSCs™ (genomically-induced Activated Stem Cells) technology platforms. AP-Skin-01 is designed for topical administration to provide full skin structural reconstruction with minimal scar formation. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the promotion of angiogenesis and the reduction of inflammation during the wound repair process. Preclinical data support its potential to accelerate the healing of difficult-to-treat diabetic ulcers. As of 2020, the company had completed an FDA INTERACT meeting to discuss the development path for this investigational product, which is currently in the IND-enabling phase.
