Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AP02 is an investigational, inhaled formulation of nintedanib developed by Avalyn Pharma for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Nintedanib is a small molecule inhibitor of multiple tyrosine kinases involved in the pathogenesis of lung fibrosis. By delivering nintedanib directly to the lungs via aerosol, AP02 aims to maximize therapeutic effects on diseased lung tissue while minimizing systemic exposure and associated side effects seen with oral formulations. Phase 1 clinical trials have demonstrated that AP02 is safe and well tolerated in both healthy volunteers and patients with IPF, showing a favorable safety profile compared to oral nintedanib. The drug is being advanced into Phase 2 clinical development for IPF[1][2][3][4][5][6].
