Overview

AP09 is an adalimumab biosimilar monoclonal antibody developed by Aprogen. It is a recombinant human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in the inflammatory response and the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. By neutralizing TNF-alpha, AP09 inhibits its binding to the p55 and p75 cell surface TNF receptors (TNFR1 and TNFR2), thereby interfering with the inflammatory signaling pathways and down-regulating the inflammatory cascade. It is being developed as a biosimilar to the reference product Humira and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of autoimmune conditions.
