Overview

AP6.2 is an engineered bacteriophage therapeutic being developed by SASPiPhi for the treatment of *Acinetobacter baumannii* infections. Utilizing the company's proprietary SASPject platform, AP6.2 is designed to selectively infect the target bacteria and deliver a payload of Small Acid-Soluble Spore Proteins (SASP). These proteins bind non-specifically to the bacterial DNA, causing it to change conformation and preventing transcription and replication, which leads to rapid bacterial cell death. This mechanism is intended to provide a highly targeted antimicrobial effect while minimizing impact on the host microbiome and reducing the risk of resistance development compared to traditional antibiotics.
