Overview

AP701 is an investigational **oromucosal full-spectrum cannabis-flower nanoparticle spray** developed by CannaXan. It is an aqueous, lipid-based nanoparticulate dispersion of decarboxylated *Cannabis sativa* flower material standardized to delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, with low cannabidiol content and additional naturally occurring cannabis constituents including terpenes and flavonoids. The clinical-trial preparation was reported to be chemically identical to the German and Austrian compounded-medicine formulation CannaXan 701-1.1. In a completed open-label Phase 1 study in healthy male volunteers, a single 12-spray dose delivering 3.96 mg THC was evaluated for pharmacokinetics, psychotropic effects, safety, and tolerability. Its principal pharmacology is expected to arise from THC-mediated partial agonism of cannabinoid receptors, particularly CB1 in the central nervous system and CB2 in peripheral and immune tissues.
