Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AP701 is an oromucosal cannabinoid spray developed by CannaXan GmbH and manufactured by Apurano Pharmaceuticals. It consists of a lipid-based nanoparticulate formulation of whole decarboxylated *Cannabis sativa L.* flowers (Bedrocan variety), standardized to 2.2 mg/mL of Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and less than 0.15 mg/mL of cannabidiol (CBD). The formulation includes the full spectrum of cannabis constituents, including terpenes and flavonoids, solubilized in an aqueous preparation to enhance bioavailability. AP701 is being investigated for the treatment of chronic pain and multiple sclerosis, with Phase I trials demonstrating improved pharmacokinetic profiles compared to existing cannabinoid medications. It is chemically identical to the magistral formulation CannaXan 701-1.1 available in Germany and Austria.
