Overview

This combination conversion therapy regimen, developed by Wuhan University, is designed for the treatment of unresectable peritoneal metastases from gastric cancer. The protocol integrates systemic chemotherapy using the SOX regimen (S-1 and oxaliplatin) with the targeted VEGFR-2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor apatinib and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) consisting of docetaxel and lobaplatin. This multi-modal approach aims to reduce the Peritoneal Cancer Index (PCI) to a level where radical gastrectomy and cytoreductive surgery (CRS) become feasible. By combining anti-angiogenic targeted therapy with both systemic and localized cytotoxic agents, the regimen seeks to achieve significant tumor reduction and improve survival outcomes in patients with advanced, unresectable gastric cancer.
