This combination regimen is a first-line chemotherapy treatment being investigated for patients with advanced epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) wild-type non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The regimen consists of apatinib, an oral small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) to inhibit tumor angiogenesis, combined with a platinum-based doublet chemotherapy. The chemotherapy component is either pemetrexed plus cisplatin (referred to as AP in the trial context) or pemetrexed plus carboplatin (referred to as AC). This therapeutic approach aims to leverage the synergistic effects of anti-angiogenic therapy and standard cytotoxic chemotherapy to improve clinical outcomes in advanced lung cancer patients. The study is primarily led by West China Hospital.
