Apatos is a porcine-derived xenogenic bone substitute used in dental and maxillofacial surgery for bone regeneration. Developed by Tecnoss under the OsteoBiol brand, it consists of cortical bone granules that have been processed to remove proteins while maintaining the natural hydroxyapatite structure. It acts as an osteoconductive scaffold, providing a framework for new bone formation. Unlike fully resorbable materials, Apatos is partially resorbable, which helps maintain the volume of the grafted site over time. In clinical trials led by Marco Esposito, it has been evaluated for its efficacy in preserving bone levels around immediate post-extractive implants, often used in conjunction with a thermogelling copolymer like TSV Gel for stabilization.
