APB-A001 is a fully human monoclonal antibody (clone Ab612) developed by APITBIO Co. Ltd. for the treatment of solid cancers. It specifically targets CD171 (also known as L1 cell adhesion molecule or L1CAM), a cell adhesion molecule that is highly expressed in various solid tumors and plays a critical role in tumor formation, metastasis, drug resistance, immune evasion, and angiogenesis. APB-A001 binds with high affinity to CD171 and is internalized into the cancer cells, leading to a reduction of CD171 levels on the cell surface. This mechanism of action inhibits cancer progression and improves the tumor microenvironment. A unique feature of APB-A001 is its species cross-reactivity with rodents, dogs, and primates, which facilitates translational animal studies. The drug is currently in preclinical development, specifically in the CMC and GLP-toxicology stages.
