Drug intelligence / Profile preview
APBB2 peptide vaccine is an experimental therapeutic peptide vaccine being developed by Sichuan University for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The vaccine consists of an immunogenic peptide derived from the amyloid beta precursor protein-binding family B member 2 (APBB2) protein (specifically the MHC class I-restricted epitope APBB270-78, sequence 'YALTNIQAA') formulated with the cholesterolized Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist adjuvant 1V209 (1V209-Cho-lipo). APBB2 is highly expressed in scar-associated macrophages (SAMs) and myofibroblasts within fibrotic lung tissue. By delivering the APBB2 peptide, the vaccine induces antigen-specific CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) that target and eliminate these profibrotic cells, thereby reducing collagen deposition, lung index, and overall pulmonary fibrosis.
