APC8020 (Mylovenge) is a therapeutic cancer vaccine composed of autologous antigen-presenting cells (APCs), including dendritic cells, that are pulsed with tumor-derived clonal immunoglobulin (idiotype protein or M protein) from the patient. The product is prepared by isolating dendritic-cell precursors and other APCs from the patient's peripheral blood via leukapheresis and density centrifugation. These cells are then incubated with autologous serum containing the patient's tumor-specific idiotype before being reinfused into the patient as a consolidation therapy following autologous stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma. The mechanism of action involves stimulating an immune response against residual malignant plasma cells by presenting tumor-specific antigens to T-cells, thereby enhancing anti-tumor immunity[2][5][7].
