aPD1-IL2c is an experimental immunocytokine drug that fuses an anti–programmed cell death protein 1 (anti-PD-1) antibody with interleukin 2 (IL-2), often with modifications such as receptor masking to enhance selectivity. The drug is designed to target the PD-1 immune checkpoint on T cells while delivering IL-2 activity directly to the tumor microenvironment. This dual mechanism aims to both block inhibitory signaling through PD-1 and stimulate T cell activation and proliferation via IL-2 receptor engagement, thereby enhancing antitumor immune responses. Preclinical studies show that targeting IL-2 activity specifically to PD‑1+ T cells can potentiate effector function while reducing off-target effects associated with systemic IL‑2 therapy[8]. The approach is under investigation for cancer immunotherapy.
