The apelin system is a key regulator of energy metabolism, cardiovascular function, and fluid balance. In conditions like obesity and Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), apelin signaling is often impaired. By activating the APJ receptor, these small molecules aim to improve metabolic parameters, such as insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake, while potentially addressing the hyperphagia and weight gain associated with PWS. This program is currently in the preclinical stage of development, specifically in lead optimization.
