Overview

Apetamin is a combination vitamin syrup marketed as an appetite stimulant and weight gain supplement. It is manufactured by TIL Healthcare and contains cyproheptadine hydrochloride, L-lysine, and a complex of B vitamins including thiamine, pyridoxine, nicotinamide, and dexpanthenol. Cyproheptadine, the primary active component, is a first-generation antihistamine and serotonin antagonist that promotes appetite as a side effect. Although cyproheptadine is FDA-approved for allergic conditions, Apetamin itself is not approved by the FDA, UK MHRA, or Health Canada. It is frequently sold illicitly via social media for cosmetic body enhancement and has been linked to serious adverse events, including hepatotoxicity and drug-induced autoimmune hepatitis.
