Apetoid

Apetoid is an oral small molecule medication containing leflunomide, developed and marketed by APEX Pharma in Egypt. It acts as a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) by inhibiting the mitochondrial enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), which is the rate-limiting step in the de novo synthesis of pyrimidines. By depleting intracellular pyrimidine pools, Apetoid suppresses the proliferation of activated T-lymphocytes and modulates the inflammatory response. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis in adults to reduce signs and symptoms, inhibit structural damage, and improve physical function. It is also used in the management of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other autoimmune or inflammatory conditions typical of leflunomide applications.
