APF580

APF580 is a long-acting, seven-day injectable formulation of an undisclosed opioid analgesic developed by A.P. Pharma using its proprietary Biochronomer polyorthoester-based drug delivery technology for the management of acute pain. It was positioned as a preclinical-stage or early development opioid product designed to provide sustained systemic analgesia over a week from a single administration by embedding the opioid in a biodegradable polyorthoester matrix. The program advanced through preclinical testing and an IND filing with the FDA in 2008 but was subsequently placed on hold as the company redirected resources to other priorities.
