Drug intelligence / Profile preview
APH-0201 is an orally bioavailable nanoformulation of betulinic acid, a pentacyclic triterpene small molecule naturally occurring in the bark of white birch trees. Developed by Aphios Corporation, APH-0201 is designed to treat melanoma by inducing the apoptosis pathway in cancer cells. While betulinic acid has demonstrated melanoma-specific cytotoxicity, its clinical application has historically been hindered by poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability. APH-0201 utilizes Aphios' proprietary nanotechnology platforms to enhance the delivery and pharmacokinetic profile of the active ingredient. The drug is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of melanoma.
