Overview

APH-0701 is a nanosomal formulation of a non-toxic Vitamin D3 derivative being developed by Aphios Corporation for the treatment of hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPCA). The drug utilizes proprietary SuperFluids CFN (Critical Fluid Nanosomes) technology to encapsulate the active ingredient in phospholipid nanosomes, which is designed to improve the therapeutic index by enhancing specificity to cancer cells and reducing systemic toxicity. APH-0701 has demonstrated strong anticancer activity in various human cancer cell lines, including prostate, kidney, and pancreas, by inducing apoptosis. Aphios is developing both an intravenous formulation (APH-0701) and an oral formulation (designated APH-1201) for prostate cancer, autoimmune diseases, and Vitamin D deficiency-related conditions.
