Overview
APH-0802 (nanoTHC) is an oral nanoformulation of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) being developed by Aphios Corporation. The drug utilizes a proprietary polymer nanosphere encapsulation technology designed to protect the active pharmaceutical ingredient from degradation in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby enhancing its oral bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy compared to conventional THC delivery methods. APH-0802 acts as an agonist at the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors. It is currently in preclinical development for several indications, including chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), chronic pain, and cachexia associated with cancer and HIV/AIDS. Additionally, it is being investigated for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and marijuana addiction.
