Overview

APH-1501-5 is a nanoparticle-encapsulated formulation of cannabidiol (CBD) developed by Aphios for the treatment of prostate cancer. Utilizing Aphios's proprietary Polymer and Liposomal Nanospheres (PNS) technology, the drug is designed to enhance the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of CBD, which is otherwise highly lipophilic and poorly absorbed. In the context of prostate cancer, CBD is investigated for its ability to inhibit tumor growth, induce apoptosis, and reduce cell migration and invasion. These effects are thought to be mediated through interactions with cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), GPR55, and various transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, as well as through the modulation of intracellular signaling pathways such as PI3K/Akt and ERK.
