Overview

APH-1503 is an extended-release cannabinoid nanoparticle formulation being developed by Aphios Pharma for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). The drug utilizes Aphios' patented SuperFluids Polymer Nanospheres (SFS-PNS) technology to encapsulate cannabidiol (CBD) within biodegradable polymer spheres. This formulation is designed for once-daily oral administration, providing controlled release and significantly improved bioavailability—approximately five times higher than standard CBD formulations. By protecting the active ingredient from gastric acid degradation and hepatic first-pass metabolism, APH-1503 aims to provide sustained relief from anxiety symptoms without the sedation or dependency risks associated with benzodiazepines and SSRIs. It is currently in preclinical development.
