Overview

APH-1701 is an experimental nanotherapeutic developed by Aphios for the treatment of HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders (HAND) and other neuroinflammatory conditions. It consists of small interfering RNA (siRNA) encapsulated in proprietary polymer-lipid nanosomes using Aphios' Phospho-Nanosome (PNS) technology. The siRNA is designed to silence the expression of C-C motif chemokine receptor 2 (CCR2) on monocytes and macrophages. By downregulating CCR2, the drug aims to inhibit the migration of these inflammatory cells across the blood-brain barrier and into the central nervous system, thereby reducing neuroinflammation and the cognitive decline typically observed in NeuroAIDS.
